The Ben Lomond Fire Department is made up of a variety of volunteers who live and work among you each and every day. Here’s a brief introduction to the group of people who make up your local fire department.
Rick Alves: Firefighter. I was born and raised in Ben Lomond and I am certified in swift water rescue.
Hunter Anderson: Grew up in Ben Lomond. Title: Firefighter, EMT, swift water rescue technician, and boat operator.
Mike Crisler: Firefighter/Paramedic
Jess Carkner: Puyallup, Wa. is my hometown. I’m an EMT, Firefighter.
Mark Angiolani: Grew up in Santa Cruz. I’m a Firefighter at Ben Lomond Fire and a Professional Firefighter-Paramedic at the Watsonville Fire Department.
Dan Arndt: We moved around a lot as a kid as my folks were farmers. Settled in Boulder Creek around 1980. Moved to Ben Lomond in 1999 and have been here ever since. I’m a Fire Captain. Jobs include Firefighter Auxiliary President, Public Information Officer, Designated Infectious Disease Control Officer and anything else no one wants to do.
Dylan Arndt: I grew up in Ben Lomond and am a Firefighter / EMT at Ben Lomond.
Yoshio Allen: Firefighter/EMT
Michael Ayers: I grew up in San Lorenzo Valley, born at Watsonville Hospital. My parents moved to Ben Lomond in 1975 and I’ve lived in Ben Lomond since. I am a Battalion Chief and Training Officer. I ‘retired’ from BLFD in 1994; at the time I was working for Tiburon Fire Protection District in Marin County… I retired from Tiburon as a Battalion Chief in April 2017. I previously served on the Board of Directors for BLFD; resigning my board seat and returning to the operational side of the department in May of 2017. All together I’ve had 10 plus years of service with BLFD and 37 years in the fire service; 32 with Tiburon Fire. I am a CA State Fire Training Instructor. I helped author and teach both the Company and Chief Officer certification courses. I also teach Wildland Fire and Specialized Rescue courses. I am currently teaching a ‘Captain’s College’-a series of classes for officers and aspiring officers for all SLV departments. I will assist teaching the upcoming Basic Firefighter Academy (BFFA) and help with the Boulder Creek Fire Internship Program. As a lifeguard, and Surf Rescue Swimmer I am genuinely impressed by the dedication of the members of our agency that put their own time and effort into certifying and serving on our Swiftwater Rescue Team.
Scott Bingham: I am a Fire Captain for BLFD. I grew up in Ben Lomond and live on the very street I grew up on 39 years ago. I started with BLFD at 16 years old in 1995. My badge number is 79 and we are now issuing badge 179 and counting for 2018. I am one of the swift water team members.
Matt Boynton: I grew up in Ben Lomond. I’m an engineer, Swiftwater technician, rescue boat operator. I hold a bunch of different certifications, like rope stuff, but those are the big ones.

Stacie Brownlee: Grew up in Ben Lomond. Fire Chief
Nicklaus Burgess: I was born and raised in Ben Lomond. I’m an engineer at Ben Lomond Fire and I have swift water rescue 1 and advance certification. I plan on getting my swift water technician and fire 1 mechanic certification at the beginning of the year.
Steven Chubb: I grew up in Boulder Creek and Ben Lomond. I’m a Fire Captain and my specialties include Rope rescue and Wildland Fire operations.
Casey Cunningham: I grew up in Felton and have lived in Ben Lomond the past 4 years. I am currently a firefighter/ EMT for Ben Lomond Fire.
Shane Hill: Firefighter
Justin Lunneborg: I grew up in Ben Lomond and my title at BLFD is Firefighter.
Jacob Matsuoka: I grew up in Ben Lomond and am a probationary firefighter.
Angelo Morabito: Grew up in Felton and Grass Valley. I’m a firefighter, am currently in EMT school, and I’m the department chainsaw specialist.

Duquan Ruff: I was born in San Diego, but I’ve been in Ben Lomond since I was 3 years old. I’m a probationary firefighter working on getting my Fire Technology/Fire science degree at Cabrillo College.
Steve Ruff: Grew up in Philadelphia, Pa. Engineer.
Brian Runcorn: Grew up in Post Falls, Idaho. Firefighter/Engineer.
James Sanders: I was born and raised in Ben Lomond and am a Firefighter/Engineer with BLFD.
Matt Sanders: I grew up in Ben Lomond – second generation. I’m a Fire Captain/Prevention officer and on the Swift water team. The prevention officer part of the job is I do all the inspections on the businesses in town and code enforcement.
Nathan Thompson: We moved around a lot, but the Midwest is most easy answer. I have a tendency to say Iowa City, Iowa; Indianapolis, Indiana and then I went to college in a suburb of Chicago. I am a Firefighter at BLFD.
Bryan Weber: Grew up mostly in Bodega Bay, Chico, and Tachikawa, Japan. I’m a Battalion Chief, Swift-water Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, EMT.
